Stakeholders Warns Against Violence In The Upcoming L.G Polls.

Relevant stakeholders in oyo town have called on all politicians and the residents to maintain optimal peace and shun any violent act before, during and after the forthcoming local government elections in the state..

Local government elections which is approaching in oyo state have not had a specific date yet but the OYSIEC had promised to conduct the election before June 2021.

The Akibio of Iloraland , His Royal Majesty , Oba Stephen Olufemi Oyeniyi, and former Chairman , Oyo East local government , Hon.Azeez Tirimisiyu , made the call during at stakeholders’ meeting via public awareness campaign of OYSIEC , held at Atiba , Afijio , Oyo East and Oyo West local government areas of the state .

Oba Oyeniyi , equally admonished members of all political parties in the town to see themselves as family for economic growth of the area .

Hon . Azees also enjoined the leadership of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OYSIEC) to seek necessary support from INEC and also abide by the rules to prevent litigations after the election.

The Chairman , Oyo State Independent Electroral Commission, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju , SAN, reiterated the commitment of the commission to free, fair and transparent local government council elections.

Aare Olagunju , who spoke through one of the commissioners , Comrade Afees Adeniyi , said the campaign became necessary to update stakeholders’ in the zone with necessary information and also gain public confidence ahead of the forth coming local government council election in the state .

In their separate remarks, the Caretaker Chairmen , Oyo East and Afijio Local governments Hon . Saheed Arowosaye and. Hon. Okeleye Gbenga respectively , pledged to give the commission necessary support for Governor Seyi Makinde led administration to achieve its dream on local government administrations .
