Masked Hoodlums Vandalise Factional Oyo PDP Office
Tens of masked hoodlums have vandalised the newly opened factional office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.
The office, which is located in Okunola Abass Street, New Bodija, Ibadan, was yet to be officially unveiled by the factional leaders.
The Nation learnt unspecified number of vehicles and other valuable items were destroyed during the attack.
Offices were also said to have been burgled with the building defaced.
One of the factional leaders, Alh. Adebisi Olopoeeyan, alleged the office was attacked by hoodlums sponsored by the mainstream faction loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde.
He accused Mr Mukaila Lamidi (aka Auxilliary) of coordinating the attack, stressing Makinde cannot exonerate himself from the incident.
Auxiliary is the coordinator of the government’s Park Managers supervising activities of commercial drivers in the state.
He said: “Mask or no mask, we know how Auxiliary and his park managers terrorize the people of Oyo State.
“We don’t need a soothsayer to tell us that the invasion was orchestrated by Governor Makinde. Our members escaped being killed as Auxiliary and his men baptised the secretariat with gunfire.
“We are peace-loving PDP members. Setting up our own secretariat is normal in a democratic setting.
“Therefore, we will not engage in brigandage with the violent PDP faction loyal to the Governor.”
But Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, exonerated Makinde from the attack.
“He is not aware of anything they are talking about,” he said.
Oyo Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Akeem Olatunji, also said: “We are not aware of existence of any office. I don’t think there is anybody claiming to be responsible for any office.
“There is no PDP faction in Oyo State. We are not aware of any factional executives. We are not aware of what they are talking about. They should look within themselves.”
