Oyo ADC: Makinde Has Fulfilled His Promise But We Are Yet To Adopt Him For 2023
The African Democratic Congress in Oyo State says it has no need to complain about the appointments into local governments in Oyo State approved by Governor Seyi Makinde as its members are now in the government.
The publicity secretary of the party, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo stated this while fielding questions on BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan.
According to him, “politics is about interest. Once your interest is protected, why do you need to complain? It is not as if everything is perfect because I cannot say we have got all but, there is no need to complain”.
“Out of the 17 commissioners in the State, ADC has 3 and our party was well taken care of in the list of local government executives released recently”.
When told by the Anchor – Aanuoluwapo Omorinde that the ADC seems to have been reduced to a transactional and negotiating party than a vibrant opposition, Adelowo disagreed saying for instance, “we (ADC) have our structure in Oyo State. Apart from the PDP and APC, which other political party has structure like the ADC he asked.”
“In fact, ADC is the third force” he added.
Reacting to the insinuation that Governor Makinde relates more with Senator Monsurat Sunmonu rather than the party itself, the party’s mouth-piece dismissed this claim stressing that its only the figment of the imagination of those peddling the rumour.
“Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is the face of the ADC in Oyo State. It was the party that saddled her with the responsibility of leading the party in the state. You can put a call through to Baba Koleosho as we speak to confirm this”.
He however said the ADC is yet to adopt Governor Seyi Makinde as its gubernatorial candidate for 2023.
His words: “When we get to the bridge, we shall cross it”.
Speaking further, the lawyer said, “The ADC is not dead in Oyo. We still hold our meetings regularly.”
Meanwhile, the Zenith Labour Party block in PDP has rejected the slots given it in the list of local government executives released few days ago.
In a communique, the bloc said it has been shortchanged.
