No fewer than 20 shops and 3 campanies were locked up by Oyo state government through ministry of environment and water resources for not compliance with Environmental Sanitation law.
The Commissioner for Environment and water resources Hon Abiodun Oni who led the enforcement team said the decision became necessary so as to serve as deterrent to others.
“When the Seyi Makinde Administration came on board in may 2019,the Government of Oyo has demonstrated zero tolerance for indiscriminate dumping of refuse ”
“As part of efforts to ensure cleanliness of environment,the ministry of environment under Hon Abiodun Oni has embarked on enforcement exercise to check mate the activities of shop owners and companies in respect of compliance with environmental Sanitation law”
The team led by the Commissioner, Hon Abiodun visited New Garage,Tipper Garage, Taska, kuola and other areas within Ibadan metropolis.
During the exercise,20 shops,3 Shopping Complex ,2 Companies and 1 Hotel around Kuola Area along Akala express way was sealed off
Hon Abiodun Oni therefore urged people to desist from dumping refuse to median and patronize the license refuse contractor allocated to their respective areas.
According to the Commissioner the exercise will be a regular one while ministry of environment will continue in its name calling and shaming method aimed at ensuring cleanliness of environment.
