The body of persons living with disability (PWD) under the leadership of Barrister Adekanmbi Ayodele humbly commends the Oyo State governor, Eng. Seyi Makinde without reservation for his prompt inclusion of PWD into the state politics at the grassroots first of it kind in the history of Nigeria. Indeed Oyo State is a pace setter.
The body of persons living with disability (PWD) Oyo State chapter applauds the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde for refurbishing special schools across the state and his prompt effort at providing learning aids to improve the quality of education in Oyo State in order to meet with global best standard.
Your excellency Sir, you have made Persons Living with Disability (PWD) in Oyo State peacocks among their fellows. It has never been recorded, in our State, since inception of the fourth Repuplic in 1999 that 150 persons living with disability would be gainfully absorbed into the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission. Like the icing on a cake, they were inclusively integrated into none special schools across the state.
Additionally, in December 2021, PWD lawyers were employed into Oyo state Ministry of Justice and this year 2022, other PWD professionals were also absorbed into Ministry of Health and the primary health care center respectively.
Furthermore, Appointment of Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Needs, 20 PWD were given political appointments as Supervisory Counsellors into 20 Local Government and 13 Specisl Assistants into 13 Local Councils. All these loudable appointments were done without any reservation by our amiable governor. Still basking in the euphoria of all of these, we specially commend the unparalleled and distinctive gestures in appointing a representative of PWD at the PDP National Congress.
All these manifestations of love have brought PWD into the stream of politics in Oyo state of which had never happened in history of Nigeria.
The PWD of Oyo State, hold in high esteem the appointment of Barrister Ayodele Adekanbi as an Executive Assistant to the governor on disability matters. This is the highest political office occupied by PWD at the moment in Nigeria.
Barrister Adekanbi has used his good office to elevate the quality of life of PWD socially, educationally.
Beyond his official duties, barrister Adekanbi has been charitable in footing the personal medical bills of our members, payment of students school fees and attended to other domestic needs of PWD. With his magnificent contribution in Oyo state this recently fetched him an appointment as South West representative member of BOT of the body of person with disability in Nigeria. We strongly believe that Barrister Adekanbi political dexterity has been more beneficial to us all.
In conclusion, the PWD of Oyo State enthusistically acknowledge these good-natured magnanimity of the governor towards PWD. Words alone can not express our gratitude. Indeed PWD enjoy the shade umbrella in Oyo state and our joy Shall know no bound if a disability agency is established soon and we have decided to pay back the good gesture we have received from this administration by mobilising members, friends and families to vote for PDP come next election as a way of saying thank you to governor Seyi
