At least 17 governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have held a closed-door meeting with Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike.
It was gathered that the candidates from Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina and 13 other States paid Wike a visit at his country home in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
The candidates reportedly arrived Port Harcourt around 8pm following the crisis rocking the party ahead of the 2023 election.
They were said to have gone to beg the Governor to forgive the presidential candidate of the PDP Atiku Abubakar and the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu as well as other PDP leaders that offended him.
It was gathered that the meeting was ongoing as of the time of filing the report.
It could not be ascertained whether they were sent to beg Wike by the party, Atiku or they came on their own volition.
A source confidence confirmed the development saying the meeting started around 8:30pm.
