    Alaafin Stool: Over 30 Aspirants Screened as First Phase of the Exercise Ends Today

    As the screening exercise for contestants to the Alaafin of Oyo stool continues, more than 30 aspirants have been screened in the first phase of the exercise which ended today.

    The screening which is being conducted by all members of the Oyo Traditional Council (Oyo Mesi) led by its Chairman and the Basorun of Oyo, High Chief Yussuf Akinade Ayoola Layinka 1, is being observed by some officials of the Atiba Local Government led by the Chairperson, Alhaja Kafilat Mojisola Olakojo.

    According to the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin of Oyo, Bode Durojaiye, the screening which was held at the ancient Palace of Oyo has so far been peaceful as armed operatives of the Amotekun and the Police from the Atiba Division mounted security to prevent intruders.

    The screening which started at 10 am saw 10 aspirants face the panel daily, one after the other. Each aspirant came with two witnesses to the venue to sign an undertaking after the screening.

    Durojaiye said, “The contestants arrived one after the other to the palace and were accompanied by some of their relations. They interacted mutually and embraced one another devoid of ill feelings, rancour and animosity.

    “So far, more than 30 aspirants have been screened.

    “All the contestants screened are getting excited, as they expressed satisfaction at the exercise”, he noted.

    Meanwhile, the first part of the screening exercise ended today, 8th of September, 2022. There will not be screening on Friday because of the Jumat prayer while the second and the last part will commence on Monday, 12th till Thursday, 15th 2022.
