There was a standstill in the Ibadan North local government area of Oyo State, as thousands of supporters of the People Democratic party (PDP) in the local government held a rally supporting the party’s presidential candidate and re-election bid of, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and governor Seyi Makinde.
Party leaders, supporters, and residents
came out en mass to participate in the rally, leading to traffic gridlock within the local government area.
There was heavy vehicular movement on the ever-busy Bodija, Agbowo, U.I Sango road, while policemen and other security operatives were seen having a difficult time controlling traffic during the PDP walk, organized by the party members in Ibadan North local government.
In his statement the coordinator of the walk, former house of assembly lawmaker, hon. Dada Awoleye expressed confidence that the Feb. 25 election would usher in Atiku as the next president of Nigeria with Engr. Joseph Tegbe, and Lanre Sarumi as senator and House of Representatives member while March 11 election will be a starting point for another 4 years for governor Seyi Makinde and Olufunke Comforter, Gabriel Babajide as assembly lawmakers respectively.
The lawmaker said that “ Oyo State
is for governor Seyi Makinde and PDP, Our local government will not only vote to return the governor into power, but we will also make sure all the party candidate is elected”, noting that Nigeria would be a better place to live if Atiku is elected.
Awoleye, therefore, urged the people of Ibadan North to come out en masse and cast their votes for Atiku, Tegbe, and Sarumi on Feb. 25 while doing the same for governor Makinde, Comforter, and Babajide on March 11.
Speaking with pressmen during the walk, Ibadan North local government executive chairman, Hon. Shuib Oladayo Agba Egbe described the rally as a hint for the opposition parties that, Ibadan North local government area is a go area for them.
Agba Egbe said Gov. Makinde, Tegbe, and other PDP candidates have the credentials of credibility, capacity, character, and ability to deliver good governance to the people of the state, and Ibadan North local government, he noted that all these qualities have placed them in a vantage position for victory.
Present at the rally were the state assembly candidate for Ibadan North constituency 1 and 2, Hon. Olufunke Comforter and Gabriel Babajide. Council local government chairman, Hon. Shuib Agba Egbe, former federal house of representatives lawmaker, Hon. Dada Awoleye.
