Following the political intrigues and speculations that preceded the primaries of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole, former Publicity Secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji has emerged the party’s flag bearer in the 2024 local government election.
Olatunji emerged the party’s candidate on Friday after the party’s primary held at Idi-Ayunre Council Secretariat, venue of the party primary.
The former Spokesman of the ruling PDP won votes of all hundred party delegates drawn from the ten wards in Oluyole local government.
Olatunji, who spoke to journalists shortly after the election expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his exemplary leadership and the opportunity given him to fly the party’s flag in the coming LG election slated for April, 2024.
While also thanking Otunba Seye Famojuro who he described as selfless and visionary with penchant for creating opportunities and platforms for growth within the party, Olatunji reaffirmed his unwavering commitment and loyalty to make PDP stronger in Oluyole.
Expressing gratitude to the Makinde’s Commissioner nominee and former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, who he said stood by him like a fortress, Olatunji vowed to unite the party in Oluyole and work with all stakeholders and interest groups to ensure another resounding victory just as the party did during the last 2023 governorship and state assembly elections.
While thanking the Oluyole local government party chairman and his executive council, Olatunji equally thanked the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olaide Settle for showing the spirit of sportsmanship in politics saying his emergence as the Chairmanship Candidate in Oluyole was a win win for all.
Olatunji also thanked the entire party’s 10 ward chairmen for deepening internal democracy in the council area and showing him the unprecedented love and support throughout the process of his emergence.
