… We’ll Support Govt’s Policies- Stakeholders Pledges
In line with His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde’s mandate of growing the internally generated revenue of Oyo State and in carrying out the duties reposed on the reappointed Director-General of Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board, Hon. Olajide Boladuro to sanitize the gaming industry, generate revenue for the State, and create an enabling environment for gaming businesses to thrive, the Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board held a mini stakeholders meeting among the Board, IT consultants, and registered gaming companies in the State on Tuesday, 29th August 2023.
Recall that in 2022, the governor had graciously approved the appointment of two consultants in the State for the enumeration of and levy collection from gaming agents in the State, and to digitize the regulatory operations of the Board. To achieve a smooth integration process, the Board invited all registered gaming companies in the State to a round table discussion.
At the meeting, concerns from the gaming operators were noted alongside the consideration of the current tough economic situation in the country. It was resolved that conversations would continue between the Board and the operators while the Board would continue to monitor the economic situation in the country to assist gaming businesses to keep afloat in the State.
In his address to the gathering, Hon. Olajide Boladuro empathetically acknowledged the prevailing challenges faced by gaming operators. He recognized the economic pressures resulting from factors such as fuel costs and other macroeconomic dynamics. He assured the stakeholders that the Board is resolutely dedicated to exploring common ground through continued conversations. This willingness to engage in meaningful discourse underscores the commitment of the Oyo State Gaming and Lottery Board to creating a balanced regulatory framework that takes into account both business viability and regulatory compliance.
In his words, the Director-General, Hon Olajide Boladuro stated at the meeting that he understood concerns of the gaming stakeholders.
“We know business can be tough now because of the cost of fuel and other economic issues.
“We will continue this discussion with our operators to find a middle ground.”
In their various remarks, stakeholders at the meeting promised to support the policies and programmes of Oyo Gaming and Lottery Board under the leadership of its Director-General, Hon Olajide Boladuro to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the State adding the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde has provided enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
