Honourable Wasilat Adegoke, the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, recently paid a visit to the Oyo state contingent at the 7th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state’s capital. The Commissioner expressed her satisfaction with the team’s remarkable performance, highlighting their team spirit and commendable achievements.
As of September 30, Team Oyo has already secured an impressive tally of 4 Gold, 4 Silver, and 8 Bronze medals at the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba. The Commissioner, accompanied by other top officials from the Ministry, conveyed the state Governor’s strong support and appreciation for the contingent’s outstanding performance.
In her first major official function outside Oyo State since assuming office, Hon. Wasilat commended the athletes, coaching staff, and Sports Council members for making Oyo state proud. She assured them of the government’s continuous support to ensure an exceptional outing at the games. The Commissioner also acknowledged Governor Seyi Makinde’s unwavering commitment to sports development and the welfare of the state contingent.
Expressing her pride in the team’s achievements, Hon. Wasilat emphasized Oyo state’s reputation as the pace-setter state and encouraged everyone to reflect this spirit in their endeavors. She further revealed plans for extensive preparation for the 8th edition of the National Youth Games upon their return to Oyo state.
The Acting General of Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Tunde Ajibike, expressed gratitude to the sports commissioner for her visit and acknowledged Governor Makinde’s genuine interest in youth and sports development. Ojo Kehinde Ifeoluwa, speaking on behalf of the contingent, expressed their excitement at the Commissioner’s presence, highlighting the morale boost it provided. The team assured that they would not disappoint the state at the Games.
