Tragic news has emerged of the murder of Ms Olaitan Gbenle, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Government. The 69-year-old was found lifeless at her residence on All Saints College Road, Idi Ishin, near NIHORT. The assailants tied her hands and legs before strangling her to death.
Reports indicate that the perpetrators also stole her two vehicles, phones, and ATM cards. This horrifying incident occurred just a day after Gbenle had reported to the police about threats to her life from hoodlums known for smoking marijuana near her house.
It was discovered that the deceased had been living alone since her maid left two months ago. She was supposed to host a meeting of retired permanent secretaries and heads of service on the day of her tragic demise.
The Association of Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries of Oyo and Osun States (AREHSPSOOS) expressed their condolences through a message signed by their chairman, Chief Bisi Adesola. The association announced the untimely death of Ms Elizabeth Olaniyan Gbenle, highlighting her dedication and service to the organization.
The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation into this heinous crime. Further details regarding her funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course.
