The former Chief of Staff to the Oyo State governor and the Ladilu of Oyo kingdom, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka has rejoiced with Muslims ummah on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir festival, urging them to celebrate moderately in the awake of delta covid-19 variant.
In his sallah message, Ilaka called on Muslims faithful to imbibe the lesson of sacrifice made by prophet Ibrahim and work for Unity and progress of the nation.
He further advised them to continue on the path of spirituality and peaceful coexistence lesson from the prophet’s examples by eschewing tendencies that could severe the unity and stability in our dear State, the pace setter and the county at large.
“This symbolic Islamic festival is a reminder to us that, there will always be great rewards when we have abiding faith and patience in trying periods; persistence in prayers and tenacity in our belief.
“It also reminds us of the sacrifice we are expected to make not only for the purpose of spiritual fulfillment, but also for the progress of mankind and development of our society.
The Oyo High Chief, used the sallah celebration to advise residents of Oyo State, to comply with the government directives, in combating the scourge of Covid-19, that is ; Washing of hands, maintain social distancing, wearing of face mask, avoiding crowded places, adding that compliance with these directives afford us the best chance of defeating this delta covid-19 variant.
Ilaka commended His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for various steps being taking in repositioning the state from poverty to prosperity through all round accelerated development.
