The trial of embattled Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka aka Baba Ijesha at the Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday has been adjourned to September 27.
The Nation learnt the trial was adjourned due to the long vacation of judges.
Both parties involved in the matter — Baba Ijesha and Princess and the counsels — were not in court.
The Nation observed only journalists and few supporters who were unaware of the adjournment were seen around the court premises.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, at the last sitting, adjourned the matter to August 11 and 12 for continuation of trial.
But the Court registrar, Ibrahim Hassan, on Wednesday, confirmed to The Nation the judges have gone on a “retreat” to precede their long vacation.
Also in a notice pasted on the court’s notice board, the long vacation starts from August 16 and ends in September 17.
One of Baba Ijesha’s lawyers, Kayode Olaniran, confirmed that the case has been adjourned to September.
The embattled actor is facing a six-count charge of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
He has returned back to acting and is making comedy skits after his N2million bail application was granted.
He is on the set of a movie being shot in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
