A Reporter with The Nation newspaper, Toba Adedeji, has been shot by police personnel deployed to disperse some protesters in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
A student, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained also sustained injury.
Some youths had gathered under Olaiya bridge in Osogbo to protest against an alleged extrajudicial killing of one of them, identified as Abiola.
The protesters had blocked the road and prevented vehicular movement.
Thirty minutes into the protest, some police operatives stormed the scene and shot into the crowd, injuring the student and journalist covering the protest.
The journalist, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, for treatment.
