More trouble appears to be building up against the realization of the governorship ambition of Senator Teslim Folarin as factional group within the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the unity Forum on Sunday met with Cheif Adebayo Adelabu in Ibadan where the aggrieved factional group finalized plans to formally join the Accord party goverborship candidate ahead of 2023.
This is coming on the heels of the unending internal wranglings within the opposition party in the state as it continues to lose more members to other political parties.
The Forum, which is made of aggrieved Oyo APC members have unsuccessfully protested against what it called ‘irregularities and injustice’ been perpetrated in the party and have decided to move on in Accord party and put APC behind it as its past.
The Unity Forum, are loyalists and political disciples of Late Alhaji Lam Adesina called popularly referred to as the ‘Lamists’.
Notable among the defectors include former commissioners under the immediate past administration, former local government chairmen, and elders caucus of the party in the state.
The Oyo APC faction has also expressed resolve to aggressively drum support for the realization of Adelabu’s governorship ambition come 2023.
The members of the forum who were at the Adelabu Penkelemes Foundation House at Jericho in Ibadan, yesterday agreed to mobilize the electorates across the geo-political zones and and take its campaign message to the grassroots.
Receiving the Party Cheiftains, the Agba Akin Parakoyi of Ibadanland, who came second at the 2019 governorship election behind the incumbent governor of the stressed that he remains one of the highest employer of labour in Oyo state with investments spread across real estate, finance, agriculture, hospitality and tourism.
He promised to create programmes and ideas that will enhance the state economy which he said will culminate into financial prosperity as well as make the state an investment destination for local, continental, and global investors.
Adelabu also promised to re-engage all unduly sacked workers, prompt payment of salaries and allowances as well as ensure frequent training of public and civil servants if elected as the governor of the state.
While notifying the new entrants into Accord party in Oyo state of his political plans, ‘Penkelemes’ as he is popularly called said his official affirmation as the Governorship Candidate has been slated for 3rd of August, 2022 at Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado Ibadan.
He enjoined the breakway faction of Oyo APC to make it a date to witness the rebirth of his governorship aspiration and the renewed journey towards the emancipation of Oyo State from incompetent governance of the incumbent Makinde PDP- led administration.
Present at the meeting are Cheif Mayor Balogun, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, Hon sunday Owoade, Alhaji ajibola Lateef, Cheif Mustapha sakariyau, Mukaila Akanji, Alhaji Makinde Ayonitemi, Hon Oguntowo Bolaji, Hon olukayo Fawole, Alhaji lateef Aje, Chief ‘Goke Olatunde, Prince Afolabi Oke, Dr Ahmed Ayinla, Chief Tijani Balogun.
Others are Alh. Lekan Kazeem, Alhaja Jemilat Adepoju, Afolabi John, Alhaji Ibrahim Agbedo, Alhaji ganiyu Alade, Engr. Azeez Adeoye, Elder Egbetokun, Chief Sunday Owoade, Chief Emmanuel Oyewusi, Hon.
