The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates for Oyo Central Senatorial district, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, Oyo federal constituency, Hon. Mudashir Kamil Akinlabi and Hon. Olorunpoto Rahamon, State assembly has engaged rural dwellers across Oyo East council area, promising better dividends of democracy if the People’s Democratic Party wins the 2023 elections.
The tour took the candidates, across Bodija, Aba Olorunda, Omo-oba Lanite, Kieseni, Gudugbu-Orile and Owode-Elete villages.
While giving assurance, the executive chairman of Oyo East local government, Hon Arowosaye Saheed Adeyemi appreciated the support of the rural communities for their cooperation to his administration at the grassroots level. He added that PDP remains the only party to solve the perennial situation of Nigeria, a vote for Atiku Abubakar, Chief Bisi Ilaka, Hon Kamil Akinlabi, Engr Seyi Makinde and Olorunpoto Rahamon will unify and redeem our great nation.
“Our local administration will not relent in putting smiles on the faces of our people at the rural communities because they form part of our key factors to the success of our administration.
Also, the Oyo federal constituency House of representatives candidate, Hon Mudashir Kamil Akinlabi attributed challenges of rural development to include high population density, poor infrastructure, high level of illiteracy, extreme poverty, rural urban migration, low social interaction and poor appraisal of previous rural development initiatives in the country.
He lamented that, 8years of APC causes great havoc to the rural dwellers, there’s no presence of government across the villages, while making assurance that if they votes PDP from top to bottom, they will put smile to their faces with presentation of bills that will cater for their needs.
“The rural dwellers have equal rights to basic amenities as people in the urban areas. We’ll be committed to sustainable economic development at the grassroots which in turn will discourage rural-urban migration. We shall continue to invest in infrastructure in rural areas for the socio-economic development and well-being of the constituents.
Equally, Oyo born lawyer and tax consultant, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka lawyer in his words noted that “considering the pursuits and achievements of the present administration in Oyo State, we cannot agree more that the centerpiece of Engr Seyi Makinde’s government is the “rural-urban based development strategy”, underpinned by a complex interplay of development process of the urban areas, without having to compromise the growth and well-being of rural dwellers”.
Ilaka promised them dividends of democracy, access to good roads, equal accessibility and adequate well-being.
In each of their responses, Chief ‘Biodun Ogundipe, Chief Liadi Aderinto and Chief Lateef Busari affirmed that national assembly requires experienced and matured politicians like Chief Bisi Ilaka and Hon Kamil Akinlabi who knows the needs of the common man adding that rural dwellers had been neglected by current occupants, nothing was done, they only give fake promises and come back after four years begging for votes.
“You’re our own, we’ll vote PDP across board because Engr Seyi Makinde has set a template of good governance which is beyond politics of hatred and deceits by APC. Our roads are no longer motorable, we only perceive their ranting for another votes”.
They urged the PDP candidate not to forget their pledge when fortune smile on them and solicits for modern health care delivery, good road, building of elementary schools, Solar street lights, modern farmers markets, provision of fertilizers and adequate farmers loan through bank of agriculture and others.
