Christians in Oyo State, particular those resident in Oyo central has been urged to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ in their every day lives, attributes such as virtues of humility, perseverance, forgiveness and compassion, are core attributes of Christ which made Him die on the cross for the propitiation of our sins so as to reconcile us with God, and it’s imperative that Christians live by them.
The admonition was contained in an Easter message by Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka the People’s Democratic Party Senatorial candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial district in the recently concluded national assembly elections.
Ilaka enjoined Christians to see this Easter period as an opportunity to increase their efforts at showing more love and promotion of peace in Oyo state and the country.
Ilaka in his Easter message to residents of Oyo state and Christians in particular urged them not to relent in cooperating and supporting the present administration led by governor Seyi Makinde in his efforts to put in place programmes and measures that would enhance and improve the standard of living of in the state.
Ilaka who is also the Ladilu of Oyo kingdom noted that ” Easter is a period to share love and promote peace. Jesus Christ lived and died for peace and love to reign and we can all emulate the exemplary life of Christ by becoming promoters of peace and love, adding “Easter is the reason why Christians are called Christians. However, Christianity places a demand on adherents, a responsibility to look out for each other and be ones brother’s keepers, and live our lives like true followers of Jesus Christ”.
Lastly, the Oyo – born Politician felicitate Christians and wished all peaceful Easter celebrations.
