The leadership of the Senate arm of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), led by Senate President, Sen. Comr. Oyewumi Festus Ayomide, together with the Clerk of Senate, Sen. Comr. Jimoh Ibrahim, recently embarked on a working visit to the 110km Ibadan Circular Road Project of Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde. The visit, born out of the desire to witness firsthand what had been widely circulated in pictures and online reports, reaffirmed one fact: Oyo State is indeed blessed with an endowed leader whose vision is second to none.
The tour was spearheaded by Comrade Olalere Benedict Adetunji, the former President of NAPS and current President of the Patriotism Now Movement (PNM). Benedict’s leadership in this exercise reflected his continued passion for youth involvement in governance and nation building. Speaking at the project site, the emeritus president described the Circular Road as timely, noting that it would bring about significant economic transformation. In his words, the project stands to “reduce operational costs for businesses, create massive jobs for youths and graduates, and open new opportunities for industries across the state.”

Leadership, in its truest form, is defined by results and impact. Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde has consistently proven that good governance is not about rhetoric but about tangible projects that touch lives. By prioritizing infrastructure, particularly road networks, he has recognized that roads are not just pathways but the arteries through which commerce, connectivity, and growth flow.
The Ibadan Circular Road Project, stretching 110 kilometers, is a monumental initiative that circles the entire Ibadan metropolis. It cuts across six Local Government Areas, Ido, Akinyele, Egbeda, Ona-Ara, Lagelu, and Oluyole ensuring that development is not confined to the city center but extended across communities where it is most needed. The scale and scope of this project symbolize Governor Makinde’s commitment to inclusive development.

For NAPS leadership, seeing the project on ground was not only inspiring but also reassuring. It underscored the truth that Oyo State is governed by a man of foresight. The association commended the Governor for thinking beyond immediate needs to position the state for future prosperity. The Circular Road is more than an infrastructure project, it is a lifeline that will transform Ibadan into a modern, economically vibrant city.
Governor Seyi Makinde’s foresight in conceiving this project speaks volumes about his leadership. By addressing today’s infrastructural challenges while laying a foundation for tomorrow’s industrial expansion, he has placed Oyo State on a path of sustainable progress. His administration is setting a benchmark for purposeful governance, where people’s oriented projects become the hallmark of leadership.

In conclusion, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) salutes Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering dedication to service and transformational leadership. The Ibadan Circular Road stands as a bold statement that his government is not just building roads but building the future of Oyo State. More importantly, NAPS hereby declares its readiness to support the Governor in any capacity in the future, as a partner in progress and a voice of the youth committed to the advancement of the state. Truly, seeing is believing, and Oyo State is fortunate to have Engr. Seyi Makinde at the helm of affairs.
