Residents scamper for safety as pandemonium broke out in Ibadan on Wednesday evening when sporadic gunshots were heard around major parts of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital city.
The Nation Newspaper reports that there had been fragile across the metropolis since Monday leading to the sack of Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Park Management System (PMS), Mukaila Lamidi aka Auxiliary.
Crisis erupted when men of the PMS suspected to be loyal to the sacked chairman went around shooting sporadically.
There were different accounts of what led to the incident.
While some residents said the suspected PMS boys were on a reprisal for the arrest of about 78 of their members on Tuesday, another account said Auxiliary boys were out to attack some individuals suspected to be behind the sack of their boss.
Another source said the PMS boys engaged in gun duel with members of the Amotekun Corps and security operatives.
The suspects were said to have been shooting while driving across the major parts of the city.
Sporadic shooting was heard in Iyana Church, Monatan, Iwo-Road, Alakia, Isebo, Total-Garden, Agodi Gate and Mokola among others.
Efforts to reach Out Police spokesman were was futile as at the time of filing this report.
