The city of Ibadan was agog on Friday, April 19th, as people from all walks of life gathered to honour late Alhaji Abdullateef Akin-Tokunbo Olajide, father of the lawmaker representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Dhikirullahi Adedeji Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, at his father’s 8-day fidau prayer.
Alhaji Tokunbo Olajide passed away on April 12th at the age of 87 and was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
The fidau prayer, was held at his Anfani residence, while the reception was held at Jogor Event Centre.
Top government, political functionaries, elder statesmen, and dignitaries from various spheres of life who came to honour the Olajide family.
Among the dignitaries present were the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland and former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, Balogun Bobajiro of Orile Igbon, Otunba Seye Famojuro, Alhaja Bose Adedibu, among others.
Members of the National Assembly, including Honorable Lamiju Alao Akala, Honorable Abass Agboworin, and Honorable Shina Oyedeji, Hon. Akinremi Olaide Jagaban, Hon Ojo Makanjuola, members of the State House of Assembly and council chairmen, Chief Adegoke, all graced the event with their presence.
The audience at the Jogor Center was thrilled by a performance from Tolu Obey, son of the great juju legend, which added to the solemn yet celebratory atmosphere of the occasion.
Traditional rulers, political leaders, ALGON Chairman Honorable Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, LG Chairmen, and a host of others across all walks of life graced the occasion.
The presence of such esteemed individuals underscored the significance of the event, reflecting the deep respect and honor accorded to the late Alhaji Tokunbo Olajide and his family during this period of mourning and remembrance.
