Organized by Chef Chinwendu Festus Wendy, CEO of Chef Wendy’s Kitchen, and supported by the Oyo State Government, the event promises an extraordinary celebration of flavors, talent, and culture.
Representing the Honorable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adejoke Adefemi, Kareem Maryam commended the initiative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting youth-driven initiatives, fostering creative entrepreneurship, and promoting cultural preservation. In her address, Chef Wendy recounted the resounding success of the inaugural edition in 2023, which drew over 5,000 attendees, including food enthusiasts, chefs, event planners, and brand ambassadors. “The 2024 edition, tagged Ibadan Chops ‘n’ Chill 2.0, will surpass expectations as we anticipate over 10,000 attendees from across the country,” Chef Wendy remarked.
Scheduled for Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Ibadan Recreation Club, Eleyele, the event aims to solidify Ibadan’s status as a culinary powerhouse in Nigeria’s burgeoning fast-food industry, valued at an impressive N250 billion ($602.5 million). Beyond its culinary offerings, the event is set to include cooking competitions with cash prizes, culinary school sponsorships, and empowerment opportunities for young chefs.
