In response to the recent invasion of the Oyo State Government secretariat by Yoruba nation agitators, Chief Priest Odegbola Ifalere and other Babalawos conducted rituals aimed at warding off further disruptions and preserving the stability of Seyi Makinde’s government and the well-being of residents in Ibadanland and Oyo state.
The video circulating on social media captured Chief Odegbola performing incantations and invoking curses against the invaders, while other Ifa priests consulted the oracle and made ritual offerings, including tying he and she-goats to stakes. These rituals were conducted to deter any future attempts to destabilize the government and the peace of the region.
The agitators, led by Mrs. Onitiri Abiola, had attempted to hoist the flag of the Oodua nation and overthrow Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, prompting a response from state security forces. While some agitators were arrested, others were dispersed to restore normalcy.
In the video, the priests condemned the agitators as enemies of Ibadan and the Seyi Makinde-led government, warning of dire consequences for anyone who disturbs the peace of the region. They emphasized the unity of the people behind the governor and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, rejecting the call for a Yoruba nation.
