Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has formally notified the State Assembly of his intention to embark on his annual leave. The message was read on the House floor by Speaker Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin during Thursday’s valedictory plenary session in honor of the retiring Clerk of the House, Mrs. Yetunde Awe.
Governor Makinde’s letter also communicated his decision to transfer executive powers to Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal, who will serve as Acting Governor in his absence. The leave is scheduled to begin on August 5 and end on September 6, 2024.

“Pursuant to Section 190 Subsection 1 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I hereby transmit that during this period, Deputy Governor Barrister Bayo Lawal shall act as Governor. I shall resume duties on September 7, 2024,” Makinde stated.
In addition, the House has sworn in Mrs. Taiwo Muraina-Akinola, formerly the Deputy Clerk, as the new Clerk of the House, following her recommendation by the House of Assembly Commission.
