Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, the People’s Democratic Party’s ( PDP ) Senatorial Candidate for Oyo Central District, has dispelled rumors making the rounds that he and other candidates of the PDP were angry with Governor Seyi Makinde over the outcome of the National Assembly elections, and that they had consequently vowed to work against the governor’s re-election.
A statement signed by Omolere Omoetan, Campaign Media Director of Chief Oyebisi Ilaka, reads in parts:
“The attention of Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka, the People’s Democratic Party’s Senatorial Candidate in Oyo Central Senatorial District, has been drawn to a statement written by an unknown entity who referred to himself as Akinlolu Ganiyu. In the statement, the impostor, who claimed to be speaking on behalf of Oyo Central Senatorial District’s National Assembly candidates of the PDP, alleged that all the candidates were angry with Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo state, over our loss at the polls”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state categorically that everything contained in the aforementioned statement were figments of the author’s imagination and totally mischievous”.
“The author was very pedestrian in his allegations which clearly showed that it was a sponsored material from the camp of the opposition to ignite disaffection within our great Party, an attempt that has failed even before it was hatched, as we remained completely committed to the re-election of governor Seyi Makinde.”
“It bears repeating to re-assure everyone that all the PDP candidates in Oyo Central Senatorial District, in the recently-concluded National Assembly elections, are solidly behind Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid. Thus, we are all working assiduously to ensure that the governor is re-elected on 18th March, 2023.”
“We hereby call on all members of our great Party, residents of Oyo Central Senatorial district, supporters and well wishers, to come out en-masse and vote for governor Seyi Makinde and other PDP candidates on Saturday.”
“Lastily, we urge the good people of Oyo state, and most especially residents of Oyo Central Senatorial District, to disregard this and other falsehoods emanating from the enemy’s camps and troop out on Saturday to vote for Governor Seyi Makinde and all PDP Candidates.”
