In a shocking turn of events, the Stakeholders of the GSMISTS Group have suspended Architect Salam Azeez, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Oyo State and State Secretary of the group, alongside Bashorun Saint Abbey (Adeniji Abiodun), the Public Relations Officer (PRO), who also doubles as a lecturer at The Polytechnic, Ibadan and the Chairman of the Oyo State Youth Advisory Committee to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, He’s also a Supervisory Councilor in Ibadan South West.
Their suspension, which was based on allegations of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds, was announced after an emergency stakeholders’ meeting held on February 8, 2025, at Farik Hotel, Ibadan. The meeting, attended by representatives from the three senatorial districts of Oyo State, was convened to review the group’s activities and ensure transparency in its leadership.
Despite the leadership crisis, the stakeholders unanimously reaffirmed their confidence in the State Coordinator, Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide (Royal Umbrella), and set up a three-man caretaker committee to oversee the group’s affairs. The newly appointed committee members are:
- Oluyinka Tella (Oyo Central)
- Chris Ayantoye (Oyo North)
- Ganiyu Kamaldeen (Oyo South)
The stakeholders also directed Architect Salam Azeez and Bashorun Saint Abbey to handover all GSMISTS properties to the caretaker committee and cease parading themselves as representatives of the group. Additionally, all senatorial coordinators were ordered to step aside, while political appointees were formally notified of the new developments.

Communique issued at the end of emergency meeting of the GSMISTS Stakeholders held on February 8, 2025 at Farik Hotel, Ibadan.
The Stakeholders of the GSMISTS drawn from the three Senatorial Districts in Oyo State met on the 8th of February, 2025 at Farik Hotel, Ibadan to review the activities of the GSMISTS Group since existence.
The Stakeholders rising from their meeting resolved as follows;
- The State Secretary, and PRO of the Gsmists namely ;
- Arch. Salam Azeez – State Secretary
- Bashorun Saint Abbey(Adeniji Abiodun) – State PRO
are hereby suspended indefinitely Pending the investigation of allegations levied against them ranging from abuse of office and Misappropriation of Fund.
- However, as for the State Coordinator, Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide, (Royal Umbrella), we unanimously passed a vote of confidence in him as the leader of the organization.
- The Three Men Caretaker Committee drawn from the three Senatorial Districts are hereby appointed and they are;
- Oluyinka Tella (Oyo Central)
- Chris Ayantoye (Oyo North)
- Ganiyu Kamaldeen (Oyo South)
- The Gsmists State Secretary & PRO are hereby ordered to handover all the properties of the group to the Caretaker Committee Members.
- The Gsmists State Secretary, PRO and all senatorial coordinators are also ordered to Stop parading themselves as the representatives of the group going forward.
- All Political Appointees are hereby notified of this development.
