The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade, yesterday marked the kickoff of the Yemetu 5-a-side football competition, an event facilitated by his Special Assistant on Youth and Sports, Hon. Idriz Ajibola, popularly known as Irorun.
Representing the Chairman at the event, the Chief of Staff of Ibadan North Local Government, Hamdy Mustapha, praised the organizers for their outstanding efforts in bringing the competition to life.
During his interaction with the teams set to compete in the opening match, Olax FC and Roy FC, Hon. Mustapha urged the players to embrace fair play and avoid violence.
He shared personal insights, revealing that he once aspired to a career in football, but fate had other plans.
The chief of staff reassured the players and spectators of the Chairman’s full support for the competition, hinting at more sporting events in the future.
He emphasized that Hon. Oluwaseun Olufade is committed to developing a vibrant sporting environment within Ibadan North, reflecting his deep passion for sports.
Adding her voice, the Director of Education and Social Services, Alhaja Najimdeen Qudrat, encouraged the players to be exemplary ambassadors of Ibadan North Local Government.
She highlighted the Chairman’s dedication to youth development, whether in sports, education, or vocational skills, and urged the participants to play safely and responsibly.
The official kickoff was then performed by the Chief of staff, Hamdy Mustapha, amidst enthusiastic cheers from the spectators.
Accompanying the Chief of Staff were key officials, including Alhaja Nojimudeen Kudirat Olusola, Director of Education and Social Services at Ibadan North Local Government; Mrs. Nngwe Taiwo, Deputy Director of Education and Social Services at Irepodun LCDA; Alhaja Oyedele Silifat, Director of Education and Social Services at Aare Latosa LCDA; Mrs. Aremu Comfort, Deputy Director of Education and Social Services at Ibadan North Local Government; Mrs. Lala Funso, Information Officer at Ibadan North Local Government; Mr. Lawal Kola, PCDO; Head of Media to the Chairman, Aderibigbe Yisahu; the Personal Assistant to the Chairman, Ayo Elemo; and Miss Moji, a Corps Member.
