Three people have reportedly died after a clash ensued between hoodlums and police in the Moniya area of Akinyele Local Government, Ibadan on Tuesday.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity confirmed to Source that a Micra driver had issues with police officers on duty which resulted in the death of a police officer.
The witness who claimed to be returning from the market further narrated that the crisis has metamorphosed into shooting which led to the death of the three people, who are yet to be identified.
“They are still fighting close to the police station. It was micra drivers that had issues with the police, then one of the micra drivers killed a police man.
“The police shot back and it resulted in a mayhem between them, like 3 people are now dead,” she narrated.
Meanwhile, an attempt to reach the Divisional Command Officer (DCO) of the Moniya Police Station has proven abortive.
A police officer at the station, has however confirmed that the clash is true and that she was not presently in the office as she ran away for safety.
One of the locals who also disclosed that the incident is true added that people have been advised to avoid Moniya axis due to the ongoing unrest in the area.
In the meantime, the details of the event have remained sketchy as at the time of filing this report.
