In a chilling revelation that has shocked the community, Onifade Oyekanmi, a traditionalist, has confessed to his involvement in a heinous crime, detailing how he conspired with four accomplices to murder a 45-year-old Fulani woman, Usman Aminat, in Ibadan, Oyo State, for a money ritual.
Onifade, also known as Ife, admitted to orchestrating the crime at his residence in Iyana Ajia on March 13, 2024. His accomplices, identified as Oyebode Olalekan, Ifayemi Ojeleke, and Jamiu Lasisi, were allegedly involved in the gruesome act.
According to Onifade’s confession, the tragic sequence of events began when he met the deceased at a marabout’s place. She offered to introduce him to another marabout in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, promising him access to mystical powers. However, upon discovering that the intended marabout was unavailable, they returned to Ibadan.
Once in Ibadan, Onifade lured the victim to his residence, where he and his accomplices carried out the horrifying act. The woman was strangled to death, and her body was dismembered. Subsequently, some of her organs, including her intestine, were burned along with those of a pig and a goat, with the intention of using them for a money ritual.
However, their plans were thwarted as they were apprehended before they could complete the ritual. Onifade confessed that they were waiting for instructions from a Muslim cleric on how to use the concoction when they were caught.
The confession has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of superstition and the lengths to which some individuals are willing to go for material gain. The authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the matter, and the suspects are expected to face justice for their gruesome crime.
