The Senatorial ambition of Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka to represent Oyo Central at the Red Chamber received a boost today as the People’s Democratic Party Youth and Women Leaders in the zone passed a vote of confidence on his candidacy. Ilaka who had already emerged as the consensus candidate of PDP Leaders, and Party executives, got the vote of confidence at a meeting he held with them at the Oyo Central PDP Senatorial office in Akinyele local government.
While moving the motion for the vote of confidence Hon. Omoniyi Adegbite the PDP Youth leader in Egbeda Local Government described Ilaka as the only person among the aspirants in PDP seeking to represent Oyo Central who has what it takes to defeat anyone the opposition parties may present. His motion was seconded by Olatinwo Adesola Youth leader Oluyole local government.
Ilaka had earlier told the gathering that ” though I have emerged as the consensus candidate among the leaders of our party, however there can only be a consensus when all the aspirants agree” he therefore urged them to be prepared for a primary election should the need arises. He noted further ” I want you to go out and talk to the delegates you know in your local government and prepare them for elections”.
Also speaking at the meeting Hon. Kamil Akinlabi the consensus candidate for Oyo federal constituency and two term house of representative member commended the governor’s leadership style which according to him has made things a lot easier for the party.
Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi the Party Senatorial Chairman in Oyo Central commended the youths and the women leaders present for their enthusiasm towards matters of the party and charged them not to relent in their committment towards all the party candidates that will emerged from the zone. Ilaka had earlier held a brief meeting with his coordinators drawn from the eleven local governments area of Oyo Central Senatorial zone.
Among dignitaries at the meeting included Hon. Kamil Akinlabi, Engr. Akeem Olatunji PDP State Publicity Secretary, Chief Benedict Akika and the PDP Senatorial Chairman and Senatorial woman leaders for Oyo Central Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi and Rufiat Onilela respectively.
