Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday, took 110 of its officers, including 70 members of the female armed squad and others from Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal, Agro-Rangers and command armed squad to Abeokuta, Ogun State, on a shooting exercise.
The range exercise involved live ammunition firing at the military shooting range 35 Artillery Brigade Headquarters, Alamala, Abeokuta.
Speaking on the exercise in Ibadan while addressing officers before departure, the state Commandant, Micheal Akintayo Adaralewa said that special female squad had been formed as a proactive measure by the NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to guarantee safety and restore the confidence of students, parents, teachers and the community in the country’s security architecture.
Adaralewa charged the female squad and others going for shooting exercise to abide by the rules and showcase professionalism in their conduct to and from Abeokuta.
He stated further that it was part of the Commandant General’s policy to rejig, revamp, resuscitate, restructure and reposition the Corps for better service to the nation.
He disclosed that the female officers had undergone intensive training in physical fitness, drills, arms-bearing and ethics.
He enjoined them to continue to be good ambassadors of the organisation as they engage in the training, from which they would soon pass out.
