In Oyo State, the Stakeholders in the Health Institutions have appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to extend his Olive hands to the Health Institutions in the State in terms of the Composition of its Governing Council, infrastructural development and accreditation of some other courses just he had done in other tertiary institutions in the State.
Last month, the Executive Governor forwarded the amendment of the Bill to reposition the School of Nursing and Midwifery to Oyo State House of Assembly in order to have full autonomy and be of international standard that will be governed by the Governing Council to Fastrack the accreditation of some courses, promotion of Staffs and bringing the needed facilities to the School to enhance effective learning by the students.
According to the condition of anonymity by some Students and Staffs of the institutions through our correspondence who visited the Oyo State School of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele, School of Nursing and Midwifery, urged Governor Seyi Makinde to beam its searchlight to upgrading of the Health Institutions in the State in terms of their facilities and accademic excellence.
Some students with their names withheld, appealled to the Governor to bring back the glory of the Institutions because, most of the facilities had suffered neglect by the past administration and are not in good shape, but need new ones, rehabilitations and replacement of many obsolete practical equipments.
In the same vein, some staffs urged the Governor to Constitute the Council to look into the welfare of the Staffs and do all the neccessary activities for the smooth running of the School’s Programmes.
It is also placed on the record that, the Executive Governor had inaugurated Governing Council to all other tertiary institutions in the State with the exception of Health Institutions, and this has resulted to a lot of lapses and incapacity of Management to undertake many other essential things that need the overall approval of the Governing Council…. “the Stakeholders lamented.”
