Fourteen years after being trafficked from her country, the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, has reunited a victim called Khadijat Barugu with her family.
Barugu, a Beninois, was said to have been released to be united with her family in Benin Republic by the NIS state Command on Tuesday.
The NIS Comptroller, Babangida Usman, while handing over the victim to an official from the Benin Consul, said Khadijat is currently 21-year-old.
Usman stated that Khadijat was trafficked from Benin Republic to Nigeria by her aunty, Matagona, at age seven and was first taken to Kishi, a border town in Oyo State.
The young lady was later taken to Ibadan by a man called Rasaki where she lived with Mrs Jumoke Aderogba before being taken to Aderogba’s daughter in Lagos to work as a house help.
Khadijat’s journey to freedom began when she had opportunity to speak with her family members through WhatsApp call.
She expressed joy as she was being taken to her family in Benin Republic.
