Former Nigeria’s Vice President and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate for the coming 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar today said the seeds of reconciliation and unity are already being planted in the party.
He made this disclosure today June 8 on his verified Facebook page shortly after a closed door meeting with the Governors Nyesom Wike, and Seyi Makinde of Rivers and Oyo states respectively.
Other Governors at the closed door meeting are Samuel Ortom, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of both Benue and Enugu states.
According to Atiku Abubakar, the meeting with Wike, Makinde, Ortom and Ugwuanyi preceded his meeting with other members of the PDP Governors Forum at his Abuja residence.
The meeting according to Atiku has slowly but surely sown the seeds of unity in the party ahead of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
“Governor Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde, Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi came calling on a courtesy visit before my meeting with the PDP Governors Forum. Slowly but surely, the seeds of unity are being planted in our party. -AA.” Atiku said on his verified Facebook page.
It was gathered that Makinde’s open show of support for Governor Wike prior to the PDP national convention against the former vice president has created a political feud between the duo of Atiku and Makinde.
The closed door meeting has however, indicated that a deliberate move to close ranks and put all differences within the PDP aside has begun.
