Governor Seyi Makinde’s running mate in the 2023 general elections, Barr. Bayo Lawal, on Saturday, attended the funeral held for late Alhaji Kamaldeen Adetola Salu at Ijebu Aiyepe in Ogun state.
The deceased, father-in-law to the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party spokesman, Akeem Olatunji, passed away last month at 85.
Salu fondly called Elepo, Baba Total was Otun Sarumi Adinni of Aiyepe Ijebu and a Royal Prince of Odolowu Aiyepe Ijebu.
Ambadsador Taofeeq Oladejo Arapaja, the Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party and Oyo North PDP Senatorial Candidate, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole Wolekanle were among the dignitaries who attended the 41 day Fidau prayer and final burial.
Other PDP stalwarts present at the event included Commissioner of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Kehinde Sangodoyin, Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Investment, Barrister Olasukanmi Olaleye, Personal Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Akeem Azeez, Special adviser to the Governor on culture and tourism, Hon. Akeem Ige, Lawmaker Representing Ibadan North Constituency ll Hon Adebayo Babajide Gabriel, Former Lawmaker, Hon. Fatai Adesina.
Also in attendance were Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, Oyo State PDP Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adeleke, Oyo PDP Secretary, Mr Michael Ogunsina, Oyo PDP Youth Leader including members of PDP Advocate group among other prominent Nigerians.
Speaking with Newsmen, Akeem Olatunji said that late Alhaji Kamaldeen lived a fulfilled life and was kind to everyone he came across during his lifetime.
He said the gathering was to celebrate not just the passing of his father in-law but to celebrate the passing of a rare breed.
“A man who loves his family and everyone, served his God and also served the community. He enjoyed the grace of God and the mercies of God.”
Olatunji then thanked all attendees especially Prominent members of PDP who graced the occasion, praying God to protect them back home.
