The former president of the country and an elder statesman who has ruled the country twice had one of the best records in respecting the traditional and cultural values of one of the most populous tribes in Africa.
History has it that he is one of the elders in the country who always pays homage to the kings or traditional rulers in the country when they were installed.
In October 2015, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo was one of the first elders of Yorubaland who visited the new Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi at Ile-Ife. Osun State to pay his homage to the new king and history has it that Baba Obasanjo prostrated with his chest on the ground as a true Yoruba man and it is on record that he has done the same for many kings over time.
This writer strongly believes that the situation in Iseyin was that Baba Obasanjo was trying to call the attention of our respected Kabiesi to what escaped their minds.
Baba Obasanjo with his track records and respect for the traditional throne of Yorubaland will never disrespect our kings.
I have been reading many opinions all over the internet and how politicians are taking advantage of the Baba’s action to cover the massive achievements recorded by His Excellency Engr Seyi Makinde in Iseyin and Oke Ogun, in his efforts to open up the area for modern development and also boost the economy of the zone.
Over 34 kilometres of Oyo-Iseyin Road was commissioned, the same road that has newly rejuvenated Fashola Farm Estate and the new satellite campus of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology was also commissioned, the school is ready to admit over 2000 students with the faculty of Agriculture and renewed energy.
The opposition in the state rather than praising the present government, results into a childish political game that may likely cause disunity in the region.
Oke-Ogun people appreciate the Governor for his developmental strides in the zone and the state.
I would like to advise the APC in Oyo State to learn to play politics of the 21st century and stop living in the era of political “jagba” or lemo”
