In yet another horrifying incident, a fully loaded Benue Links bus was viciously attacked by suspected herdsmen on the Naka road in Gwer West LGA. The assailants, believed to be Fulani herdsmen, targeted the bus as it was en route to Otukpo, causing panic and chaos among the passengers.
Tragically, one passenger lost their life during the attack, while several others sustained injuries. This heinous act marks a distressing pattern of marauding herdsmen targeting innocent travelers along this dilapidated road.
Tyolaha village, where the attack took place, has become a notorious hotspot for such brutal assaults by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The attackers, numbering around 15, overpowered their victims and easily escaped any attempts at resistance.
The relentless onslaught of these attacks has forced many residents to flee and farmers to relocate from this perilous stretch of the road. The remaining residents are now pleading with the government and security operatives for urgent protection.
Confirming the incident, Benue Police Public Relations Officer, Anekwe Catherine, stated, “A bus belonging to Benue Links, which was heading to Otukpo, was attacked by unknown gunmen. Three persons, including women, were wounded, and sadly, one person lost their life this morning.”
