The city of Ibadan stood in solemn tribute as the remains of the esteemed 42nd Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, arrived at Mapo Palace.
Notable figures including former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, and ALGON Chairman Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, other Council Chairmen, Mogaji Adanla, Others gathered to pay their respects as the State mourned the loss of a revered leader.
Oba Balogun’s passing occurred on Thursday night, mere days after commemorating his second anniversary on the throne. The distinguished monarch, renowned for his visionary leadership and dedication to his people, breathed his last at precisely 9:05pm in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, following a brief illness.
All is set for internment at his ancestral home in Aliiwo by 4 PM on Friday, March 15, in accordance with Islamic rites. As the city bids farewell to a beloved leader, the legacy of Oba Lekan Balogun will endure in the hearts and minds of the people of Ibadan.
