This is the list of the consensus candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, national convention taking place at the Eagle Square, Abuja. Major stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Oyo State have called for the suspension of its State congress. Fatima Hassan-Adeleke, late former governor Abiola Ajimobi’s special assistant on student matters, has been announced as the senatorial women leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo South. Secretary of the congress committee, Abdullah Bello, announced her name alongside others, after members have affirmed them through voice votes. The 28-year old who attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, hails from Ibadan North West local government.

Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have failed to persuade a former Osun Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola to withdraw from the contest as of the time voting commenced at 5pm. Oyinlola, a candidate for the position of Deputy National Chairman (South), is contesting the position with a former Oyo Deputy Governor, Taofeek Arapaja. Stakeholders, especially the party’s Governors, have adopted Arapaja as consensus candidate for the position, a decision Oyinlola has vowed to resist. Amidst controversy, a former Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Survey in Oyo state, Mr Isaac Omodewu has emerged as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. This was announced at the congress of the party held on Saturday, in Ibadan the Oyo state capital. Omodewu hails from Itesiwaju local government are of the state. Voting at the ongoing national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced. The exercise, which began at 5pm, will see delegates from Abia state as the first to vote. Adamawa, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, state will come next, to be followed by Bauchi, then Benue and the rest; all in alphabetical order. The National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the election of its new National Working Committee (NWC), has kicked off at the popular Eagle Square, Abuja with pomp and pageantry. The convention is being attended by 3,000 delegates across the States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. Several of the state governors elected under the party along with their delegates are seated in their respective pavilions.
