The Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyu Salawudeen, has joined his ancestors.
The monarch’s death happened on Sunday (today), the fourth such occurrence among senior traditional rulers in Oyo State in eight months.
His departure is coming months after the Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Soun of Ogbomoso; Oba Saliu Adetunji, Olubadan of Ibadan; Oba Lamidi Adeyemi joined their ancestors.
The University of Ibadan trained veterinary doctor, who ascended the throne in 2007, was said to have died at the University College Hospital, where he had been for months.
While his remains are being parked for onward journey to his town, a less than one hour journey from the state capital, traditionalists have begun passage rites around the ancient town.
Recall that sometime in February this year, the Iseyin palace debunked rumours that the monarch was dead, stating that the king was alive, attending to the development of the community.
As of press time, the place is yet to officially break the story of the Monarch’s passing.
