Barely four years after, the former Speaker has almost perfected plans to tie the nuptial knot with Miss Aisha Mohammed Saidu, on Friday, in Abuja.
The bride, a lawyer and graduate of the University of Hull in the UK is a granddaughter of late political heavyweight and onetime head of Nigeria’s security organisation Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi, Marafan Sokoto. The bride’s mother is Shinkafi’s daughter and a sister to the former Governor of Zamfara State, His Excellency Alhaji Aliyu Shinkafi.
A family source told our correspondent that Friday’s solemnisation ceremony will climax the courtship and earlier introduction ceremony between Bankole and Aisha.
He said Sokoto State Governor who is Bankole’s successor as Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal led the groom’s family to the bride’s family home to seek her hand in marriage during an introduction ceremony.
An invitation card obtained by our correspondent on Tuesday in Abeokuta showed that the ceremony will hold between Thursday and Friday in Abuja.
The family, however, mandated guests attending the wedding to wear a face mask in compliance with COVID-19 safety measures.
