Senator Olamilekan Adeola, aka Yayi, has defeated incumbent, Senator Tolu Odebiyi, to pick the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Ogun West.
Adeola, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, scored 294 votes to defeat Odebiyi, who polled zero vote.
A total of 294 delegates from the five local government areas in the zone were accredited for voting in the primary election and all of them voted for Adeola.
Two other contestants – Hon. Abiodun Isiaq Akinlade and Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI)-had earlier stepped down to take up House of Representatives tickets.
Adeola has been representing Lagos West Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly since 2011, before switching to Ogun State in 2021.
