Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has named 37-year-old Omobayo Godwins as his Deputy hours after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu was announced.
The Omobay’s inauguration is scheduled for Monday, April 8 in Edo State Government House.
Here are a few things to know about the new deputy governor:
- He was born on July 19, 1986.
- Omobayo hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area.
- He has a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN)
- He is a registered member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
- Before his new appointment, he served as a Senior Maintenance Engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited.
- Omobayo contested as Labour party candidate for Federal House of Representatives seat of Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency during the 2023 elections.
