The Oyo state house of assembly has passed the new budget appropriation of N273.7 into law.
The governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde had initially proposed a total budget sum of N266.6 billion for 2021 fiscal year but was reviewed upward by the Oyo state house of assembly to the sum of N273.7 billion.

The house of assembly passed the Oyo state appropriation bill into law on Tuesday shortly after the house Committee on Public Account, Appropriation and Finance presented its committee report to the house during its plenary sitting.
Recalls that Governor Seyi Makinde had sought the approval of the legislatures by presenting a budget proposal in total sum of N266.6 billion to the state assembly for the 2021 fiscal year on Monday 23rd of December, 2020.
Governor Makinde while presenting the budget which was tagged ‘budget of continued consolidation’ earlier in November, maintained that the present government has achieved considerable success in the current fiscal year amidst diverse devastating challenges emanating from COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide EndSARS protest.
Makinde had sought speedy consideration and approval of the budget from the legislatures to enable the state government embark on timely implementation of the budget by 2021 starting from January.
The Speaker, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, in his remark shortly after passing the Oyo state appropriation bill into law expressed the optimism of the legislative arm in the reviewed budget to deliver improved results in the coming year.
Ogundoyin explained that the house did a thorough scrutiny of the budget and ensure that no part of the state is left behind in term of physical development.
