The wife of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Tamunominini, has urged Nigerians to show love to their neighbours at this time by giving gifts to needy people around them.
The First Lady said this while speaking in an interview with journalists on Sunday at the Christmas party she organised for children from across the 33 local government areas of the state.
She said many people needed just to receive a word of encouragement and little gifts to restore hope to them.
She said the economic situation in the country had forced some people out of jobs and it had made things very difficult for many others but she said a little show of kindness would go a long way to reduce the stress of many.
She said, “This is Christmas and the lesson we can all learn from this season is love. God demonstrated his love towards mankind by giving us his only son, Jesus.
“We all need to show love to our neighbours. Some people will be okay if you give them just a meal. It does not have to be big gifts, you can give at your level. Just N1,000.00 will bring a smile to the face of some.
“We all have to think of those who do not have and do something for them no matter how small. Just make sure you give to people to make their faces bright.”
She also called on parents to closely monitor their children to prevent them from criminals.
