The Lagos Command of the Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of singer Mohbad. The police have identified the auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, as one of the main suspects involved, along with his friend and fellow artiste, Ibrahim Owoduni (known as Prime Boy), and another friend, Ayobami Sadiq.
During a media briefing, Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa revealed that a total of 26 individuals had been questioned, resulting in the identification, arrest, detention, and interrogation of five suspects connected to the sequence of events leading to the singer’s demise.
According to Owohunwa, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse, was invited by Ayobami Sadiq to treat Mohbad on September 12, 2023, at his residence in Lekki-Lagos. Ogedengbe administered three different injections that are believed to have triggered a chain of reactions, ultimately resulting in the singer’s death. Expert opinions and witness statements have confirmed Ogedengbe’s admission.
It was also revealed that Mohbad had a heated argument and physical altercation with Prime Boy following his last performance in Ikorodu, Lagos. The altercation led to Mohbad injuring his hand by smashing a window. Although his hand swelled, Mohbad refused to seek medical attention.
The police have found evidence linking Naira Marley and Sam Larry to cyberbullying, physical abuse, threats to life, and assault against Mohbad. While both individuals deny any criminal involvement in Mohbad’s death and provide alibis, electronic evidence and credible witnesses connect them to the aforementioned offenses committed against the deceased during his lifetime.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police have forwarded the case files to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
