In a stunning turn of events, Senator Elisha Abbo of Adamawa North Senatorial District has been removed from office by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. The court declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party as the rightful winner of the February 25 senatorial election. Yohanna had filed a petition, citing irregularities such as false entries and vote manipulation. The court upheld his claims, nullifying Abbo’s election.
Amidst this controversy, Senator Abbo has come forward with serious accusations against Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Abbo alleges that Akpabio played a significant role in the unfavorable court judgment against him and has plans to remove four other senators through similar means.
Abbo stated, “I have received information from a highly placed and reliable source that myself and four other senators within the ruling All Progressives Congress will be removed from the Senate through court rulings. This is all because we worked against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.” While he did not disclose the names of the other senators, he mentioned that Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is next in line.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the court’s decision, Abbo emphasized his popularity and claimed that the PDP candidate could not have defeated him in the election. Abbo urged the judiciary to remain the last hope of the common man and called upon political leader Bola Tinubu to protect democracy.
Despite his removal, Senator Abbo remains resilient and has assured his supporters that he will return to the Senate in 2027.
